About Dr. Nina

Hi, I'm Nina. I help people make eating well feel easier.

Physician, nutritionist, lifestyle medicine specialist, author, and life coach. Also a mom of three who knows what a busy weeknight feels like.

I've been where you are.

As a busy physician raising three kids, it was easy to let my own eating, exercise, and sleep slide, and to get derailed by guilt, self-doubt, and overwhelm. I dealt with migraines, insomnia, back pain, and emotional eating.

Eventually, running on empty landed me in the hospital with myocarditis. That was the turning point. I started applying everything I knew as a doctor and a nutritionist to my own life, in ways that were simple enough to actually stick.

Healthy living should support your life, not consume it.

Where it started

Food as medicine, learned at the family table.

My love of nutrition was shaped by my mother's family in Brazil, where I learned to use food and herbs as medicine, and that we're meant to eat fresh, whole foods.

Today that looks like a well-stocked kitchen, a few reliable meals, and lots of flavor.

How I work

A few principles I come back to.

  1. 01

    Eat for flavor and nourishment

Lots of nutrient-dense, plant-forward food that tastes great.

  2. 02

    Leave room to splurge

Ease back on what doesn't serve you, without banning anything.

  3. 03

    Keep shopping and cooking simple

No need to be a gourmet chef.

  4. 04

    Move efficiently

Balanced movement that fits your day, not hours at the gym.

  5. 05

    Protect sleep and calm

    Self-care isn't a luxury; it's the foundation.

  6. 06

    Spend energy wisely

Prioritize the people and pursuits that energize you.

And underneath all of it: everyone is worthy of care, whatever their circumstances. Including you.

The Stocked Kitchen

The method that grew out of my own kitchen.

The Stocked Kitchen is my practical approach to reducing food-related decision fatigue: keep useful ingredients on hand, know a few simple ways to use them, and repeat what works.
